OUTHOUSE website launches

We are proud to announce that the OUTHOUSE website has launched following to amazing CD’s they released in there first year. OUTHOUSE, the new project from Mark Rechler & George Hooks that crosses Worldbeat, Chillout, Electronica, Ambient, Hip-Hop, Drum & Bass, Dub, and Down Tempo funktronica. “I like to call it World Groove” said Drummer/Percussionist George Hooks “We are just starting and we have so much we want to do and say with this project” he concludes. The Bands first 2 releases called “Hang Sessions” based around a rare instrument called a “Hang”, and “Soma Diploma” the more electronic of the two are, available currently online at CDbaby.com as well as some other online outlets.

Jazzfest Chronicles or the Jazzfesticles

New Orleans is coming around I must say. After a 5 day jaunt down at the New Orleans Jazzfest it seems to me though the city still has a ways to go it is certainly moving in the right direction. New Restaurants like Cochon and Luke are popping up as well as the usual classic like Camelia Grill and Mothers which closed temporarily.

Jazzfest was a blast as usual if you have never been, I am not sure what you are waiting for. 10 Stages of amazing music going simultaneously…...

Often it seems like there is so much new music out there one does not know where to begin. Music is essential in my life. If I am not listening, I am playing, practicing, writing, jamming, or at least pondering. I am constantly looking for the next soundtrack to my life for the next few months. Music that blows me away is my goal, though I often even check out music I am not really interested in but other people are nuts for, just to see what i like and don’t like about it. I also like to go deep in back catalog artists I know well and artists i don’t. It is amazing to me that artists like Frank Zappa have sooo much great and interesting stuff I still have not got into yet. lets face it there is a ton of music out there to explore. Okay so here are a bunch of new things i have been diggin into:

OUTHOUSE: exploring the universe

So I mentioned in my last email that George & I were working on a new project called “OUTHOUSE”. It is project that will explore the deep space of music and grooves from genre’s such as Ambiant & Downtempo as well as Chill, Urban Lounge, & Trance. I wrote the first CD’s music to work with an Amazing Vinyasa Yoga class my friend Sarah Intonato does and we performed it live actually at a retreat she did this past weekend that was totally killer.

The Instrumental music morphs from total meditational space drone through worldly electronic grooves and percussion like in some futuristic sci fi bar in India in 2084 and builds to a sweaty frenzy where it recoils back down ultimately to another deep trance space journey.
